Saturday, in the park -- the twelfth of May, not the fourth of July. The rest of the week passed with less excitement than the weekend.

When Elizabeth called up and invited Auggie out on an afternoon walk, he was more than happy to accept. It's only natural for them to link arms once they get off Vivi -- she's being his guide, after all.

"I promise to tell embarrassing stories about Libby's childhood," Virginia chimes in.

Elizabeth (or Libby, or apparently Libra) takes Auggie's arm and trails after her.

Auggie squeezes Elizabeth's arm, smiling, and murmurs, "Libra?"

"Libby and Virginia. Libra and Virgo. It made sense at the time," she murmurs back.

"We were ten," Virginia says helpfully over her shoulder.

"Cute. Is this why you asked me to give you a nickname when we first met?"

"She likes to collect them."

"I do," Elizabeth affirms. "What's the point of having such a nicknameable name if you don't take advantage?"

"So what's the best one anyone's come up with? Other than Libra."

"She punched a boy out in sixth grade for trying Bessie," says a smirking Virginia.

"I have to say, though, the most creative one I've gotten so far was Eli."

". . . I kind of like Eli," he decides, because that seems like a better response in front of her childhood best friend than You punched a guy out? Hot.

"I know! It's cute."

Virginia keeps any observations she may have about Auggie's reaction entirely to herself.

"Only from people who've known me for fifteen years."
